I have heard that the early 15th's had a problem with poorly cast wheels. (The wheel would actually crack around the hub/ studs). Does anyone have a TSB on this? Any casting numbers? I have a set of 4 mint 15th wheels but I have a sneaking suspicion they may have been removed under this recall. Supposedly they had been sitting at a dealership since 84. I also have a pair of rear wheels new in their original boxes. Thanks for any info.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, I have a 15th anniversary T/A which I purchased new in May of 84', I had my rims replaced under the recall, the easyest way to tell the rims apart is the center cap is larger on the new rims. If you need dimensions I have an old and new wheel.

Hi shota15. Welcome to the board Thanks for the heads up about the center cap size. I just checked the two wheels I have here at home and they looked to have the correct center cap size. These two wheels were new in the box. I'll check my other wheels next time I see them to see if the cap is smaller. I think it may be...which means I'll be able to make four really nice end tables out of them ;D I think they are the recalled wheels.

I have one front wheel I planned on using to make a set for my kids 83 DT500. I do know that the one I have is cast alot more heavily around the lug area compared to the same style wheels I have on my 83, which are off an 87 Formula. How can I tell by looking at the wheel, if its good or not? Casting numbers, dates, anything that can be easily told over the internet?
Thanks, if anyone can shed more light on this subject for me.

Hey Leon,
I'd guess the TSB would have the casting numbers, but I havent found a copy of it yet.
From what it sounds like, the later style with the larger center cap, like you have off of the Formula would be the safer one to use.
