Thanks Simon for the linking to this board!
My 1983 is in good basic shape. Not running at present. Slowly replacing missing and damaged parts. Prior owner got from trans am parts seller. Last licensed in 2000. Looking to make a weekend driver with style. Decided so far against full frame off. Doug

Simo Sorry about the name mis-spelling last post. My 83 is an automatic, 305 crossfire/Lu5/ S, Pwr everything. Has standard 4wheel disc, a/c,delay wipe, cruise, pwr window, pwr locks, pwr trunk release, pwr mirrors, defrost, and pwr steering. Front aero ground efx damaged both corners and now removed. Hood end was rusted thru but replaced with good used one same vintage. Obtained recaro seats in poor condition and will have recovered. Also acquired 4 aero rims to replace apollo's on car now. Replacing missing electrical relays and connectors. Power steering pump removed by last owner for his black and gold 84. Obtained new one and have 99% of brackets and bolts from salvage yard. Here are some early Pic's, will send to your email until I figure out how to post here. Doug

Has it had its radiator support replaced since the cowl tag is riveted on ?

Not that i'm aware of. Doesn't look disturbed anywhere. I cleaned off the tag so it could be read. Were these tags mounted in an other fashion?

This is how they were attached. Stupid question does your cowl tag match your VIN ? The 03D on your first line is the production week, 03=March D=fourth week

Simo the window vin and title vin match. The production run number off the cowl matches the one on the V.I.N. I did a search with Pontiac history and they confirmed V.I.N and sent me corresponding dealer info to match. Actually sold 40 miles from me in 1983. Doug

Simo Upon working more on car, I can now say its been repainted at some point. Found overspray in several locations. The radiator support probably was replaced due to the way the cowl tag is attached. Have the radio installed and it sounds great. My only problem is the power antenna connection. Does the antenna raise when car starts or when radio power button is turned on? I would assume when power to radio is turned on, but can't seem to get the proper connection. Have rebuilt the power anntenna with new mast from Modern Day Muscle. I also rebuilt the wiper/washer unit. The wiper motor worked but washer did not. Bought the washer pump replacement and had to use old circuit board per instructions. Now the unit works great. Replaced the mis-matched wiper arms also. Scoured junk yard for spray nozzles and found replacements. I acquired the proper steering wheel but, have problem. Lower bearing from upper shaft was in pieces. Bearings down in column. Fished them out. Any one now how to get new lower bearing installed after I find one? Finally found front ground efx. Saw one on Ebay for 350.00 ouch. Passed on it! Found one locally in great shape for 49.00. Thats more like it! Bolts were rusted togehter and the front strip mounts had to be twisted off. Any one know where there is a set of these metal strips with bolts tacked in good condition? May have to replicate these. Replaced door, ignition, hatch locks. Prior owners buggered up locks because they didn't have keys. I went to dealer with old key codes and they made a key. Key works on gas door, storage and one replaced passenger door lock. Have trunk lock from junk yard, but no key wondering if locksmith can change? Replaced missing spare, jack and hardware with original equipment. Have not found a canister though. Have new door window seals outer and good used innner door caps. Looking for door panels. Pair I have are curled at front corner and are heavily molded. Any one rebuild these? Wiring to rear windsheild defogger shot. Obtained good used sections at junk yard and replaced corroded old ones. Took out rear seatbelt retractors and re-wound them. They work great now. Replaced missing power steering pump. Found all mounting hardware for pump and a/c except for one large bolt and salvage yard. That's all I have worked on so far! Sorry no pics. Doug

I think the antenna raises and lowers when you activate the radio with the power button. There's a relay behind the map pocket and you should hear it clicking every time you turn the radio on and off. if you do not hear this clicking, it could be a bad relay. if you DO hear this clicking at the map pocket, then your power antenna motor may have seized up or gotten stuck somehow and the relay is good. good luck GT
