Like to start my first post here with a BANG !! ;D Ok I have parted out and seen my share of 82 bird's but this one has me frozen in shock ,I thought it was a redone interior but closer inspection makes it factory right ?? My records had briar brown as a 1983 color. But this is a black 1982 S/E with a factory briar brown interior WITH pmd seats. I did remember seeing a 1982 T/A a black WS6 T-Top with the same interior 8 years ago Any one wanna get chime in ?? ;D I'll post pics in a while Dave

Hello and welcome,
What does it say on the cowl tag? My first thought is that it was originally charcoal and has faded. I have seen many faded interiors and they turn all sorts of colors. Do you have the build sheet? Some pics would be great.

Hey Jeff, I had a feeling you were going to chime in first LOL ;D I have no VIN or COWL TAG info as of yet,Since I'm trying to score the pmd's from the guy. ;D But if all else fails ill try and get more info. If it was closer I would take the whole car for the price he wants of $500. Doesn't look like faded charcoal to me Here are pics

I don't know. It looks like a well faded charcoal interior to me. I think the camera he used isn't the best. Being a S/E, the lower half of the dash and console would match the interior color and they look like they're charcoal.

Interesting, that looks brown to me also. The first thing I notice is the piping around the top of the seats. That should not be there. Also the silver ring around the steering wheel, they where discontinued in the second half of the model year. The plastic parts to look charcoal to me and the door panels material does not match the seats, which it should. My guess is that the seats where reupholstered early in its life. I can’t tell about the carpet.
A pic of the cowl tag would definitely be interesting and if you get the seats I’b be curious to see the build sheet, if its there.

Well I'm still waiting to hear back on the data plate and VIN And,You forgot Alex.Briar brown was an option in 1983 (Pretty rare I have seen)and could still have pmd's installed as a dealer option. You never know if somone swapped a briar brown pmd interior into this 82.I guess The build sheet under the driver seat will solve this puzzle I guess ;D Dave

If you look at the steering wheel, you can tell it was a charcoal grey interior. The spokes still have grey, even though the wheel is brown now. Colors do fade strangely...believe me...mine started out at Light Saddle...now it's PINK! GAH!!!

The gauge needles are orange, which is not possible for 1982. However it does have the "door eagle" (where the manual crank usually would be), which I have never seen on a 1983. So .. what the heck is this car? I'm gonna say it's a 1983. As far as the seat color, it's too hard to tell, but the butt cushion looks like brown to me, not faded charcoal..

The answer lies in the cowl plate. That's basically the bottom line. If they were unwilling to give it to you, we'll never know for sure, but we can speculate.

I'm going to say it's a 1982 because of the three speed shift plate, 1982 only HVAC, and the silver ring around the horn button.
The gauges look like 1984 L69 gauges.
