Well the trans swap is underway. My buddy let me use his garage. It was in the 30's this morning, but a balmy 50 in the garage. Got the old trans out and the new one ready to go...until we noticed the torque arm bushing was totally shot. Fun! tried all the parts stores with no luck... try again tomorrow... I did manage to repaint all the floor pans and underside of the car though Should be OK for this winter.

Well... scratch one winter project. In the few days I worked on the car the weather ranged from the 20's to 70, and included rain and snow. Ahh winter in NJ... The Trans swap is done. I drove it to work this morning and it feels great. I sure missed my thirdgen! I took a few pics if anyone is interested I can post them.

Here are a couple I had on my cell phone. The others are on my laptop. I'll load them later. This is the original trans. 700R4. 225k on it. Started slipping about 3 years ago. Here is the new trans. It is from an 84 Firebird with an LG4. It was rebuilt by Cottman about 75 miles ago. It was pulled after the owner decided to install a 400 and a TH400. I installed a new re-man stock torque converter I picked up on Ebay. Also had to install a new poly torque arm mount, the original rubber one was totally shot. It turns out my car has a "reverse stamped" torque arm. According to the susp. companies some cars built between 83 and 85 had reverse stamped torque arms and the regular bushings wont work. I have pics of it on my lap top I'll have to upload. Besides the trans I got to clean up and paint the floor pans and wheel wells. As well as grease/ lube all the bushings. The car rides much smoother now. I drove the car around last night, to and from work today and it feels great. My LG4 must be putting 95hp down at the wheels. ;D A few more shots... And the "reverse stamped" torque arm...

That looked like fun Dan. As for my car I need to replace an axle seal and oil pressure sensor. It's been down for two months waiting for that.

Replaced the axle seal and tightened the header collector. I replaced the oil pressure switch with a new one and it started leaking within five minutes. I have an original metal one that I will be putting in and it should be ready to drive again.
