It is getting to be that time of year... It is getting dark out earlier, the temperature (and leaves) are dropping...
So... does anyone have any plans for their bird this winter?
I plan on doing a trans swap soon. I've got a stock 700R4 ready to go in... I am just trying to find someone who will let me use their lift before I have to do it in the driveway, haha.
I also plan on throwing in some Bilstein shocks in the back of my car while I am down there.

Whoops, I should have put in a So-Cal disclaimer... ;D Basically it consists of strange percipitation... its usually flakey, cold and heavy. Not to mention the lovely weather. It makes driving an F-body an adventure... Oh, and then there are the salted roads that will make an F-body rust away around you (I know... Whats that!?) Another (pre) winter project... Climb under the car and give it a fresh coat of undercoating/ paint to try and help it survive another winter. Fun! You California guys dont know what your missing! ;D

I plan on adding 2 bays to my garage. I was trying to move but I have to sell my house first to buy another house. Housing market sucks for selling so Iām going to stay where I am. Adding 2 more bays will give me room to resume my 83 T/A restore and store my other 2 firebirds inside. I want to be done by March so I can work on my 83 next spring.

The clutch went out of my T/A about five weeks ago. It's up on stands while I've been busy at work. Planning on tearing into it tomorrow. Beyond that, sfcs top my list, while searching for stock interior parts that are less beat-up and cracked.

Haven't visited this site for quite a while as I haven't done much with my '84. On the other hand, had a lot of fun with the GTA and just finished an engine build on my '89 (now a 2.8 stroker).
But, with winter here, now I can get to the '84 Trans Am!!! Left rear brake line has been replaced so now I can stop! Anyway, I have a bunch of electrical issues to sort out, some vacuum leaks around the intake manifold and since I was given a Holley intake manifold for the 305, guess I'll have to install that ;D.
The plan is to re-do the ground effects in silver, replace the striping and get it all ready for Collector's Plates. I only have to pass emissions, get the plates and never do emissions again. So, after the Collector's Status, I may do either a build on the engine or go to something all together different.
I'll keep you posted.

GTA50 sounds like some good plans. I have some good shots of the striping if you need them. I have collectors on the 25th and the Comp and it is great, all they do is check the mileage at inspection. A 2.8 stroker? I am intrigued, tell us more

For me the Collector's status on the '84 Trans Am is going to be pretty involved - even down to the original radio (which I have, but not sure if it works). They will allow some mods but they have to be "period" pieces - i.e. headers consistent with what was available in 1984 for example. Of course, mods for safety purposes are allowed (tires for example).
Regarding the '89 Firebird and the 2.8L stroker, that involves putting in a 3.1L rotating assembly into the 2.8L block, which results in a longer stroke. In my case the block was also bored out .030 and I put in a 260 grind cam, ARP rocker studs, 1.52 roller tipped rockers, port and polish of heads, performance grind on valves. The crank is balanced. I also put in a cold air intake and a set of Pacesetter headers, plus a Dynomax superturbo muffler to complete the cat-back exhaust. Coupled up with the 5-speed and the 3.42 rear gears the car has really woken up.
I'll dyno it in a couple of months to see where I'm at. This is my daily driver by the way. ;D

I heard that NJ was getting more serious about the collector status (like they wanted manufacturer documentation explaining how many were built in one case). I guess I got lucky, my neighbor didnt have any trouble with his stock 1LE Iroc either. The 6 cylinder sounds like fun. I'd be interested to hear what kind of power it is making. My friend has a 3.1 in his 5-spd Camaro, and it is peppy.

Thought I would summarize what British Columbia's Insurance Corporation requires:
Vehicle age To qualify for collector plates, your vehicle must be:
At least 25 years old, or 15 ā 24 years old and a limited-production vehicle; that is, 1,500 or fewer of that model were produced by the manufacturer worldwide for that model year, or At least 15 years old and the manufacturer has made no vehicles of any kind for at least five years. Your vehicle must also be: In exceedingly good condition. Maintained or restored to a condition that ICBC considers to be of collectible value.
Note: It is important that your vehicle's components and condition be consistent with the manufacturer's original specifications. However, ICBC may allow some exceptions. Examples include safety improvements and adding after-market parts of the same era as the vehicle.

TAdan, regarding stripes, I wouldn't mind seeing some pictures. I ran the RPOs through ThirdGen's decoder and came up with a black/garnet stripe for my car. I know their decoder is based on a Camaro, but did Pontiac use the same RPO as Chevrolet for the accent stripes?
