Here are a few examples of factory striping on 82-84's. lets keep this thread specific to lower body striping. 1984 15th T/A. Note the 4 stripes printed on a white background. Here is an 83 DT500 fender stripe. Note it is printed on a white and charcoal background. Here is an 82 T/A that was repainted at some point. It still has original style decals though. Black and gold printed on one decal. I'll post more as I come across them

You know, I never noticed, as I don't have any NOS decals for either the 1983 Daytona Trans Am, or the 1984 15th Anniversary Trans Am, but it is possible that the decals are clear, instead of white. Does anyone know for sure? Usually, when on a white car, the background would be see though, or clear. George

I went to the 2007 Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk Ohio last year and there was a 15th anniversary car there that I took some pics of. One thing I noticed on the car was the decals that go around the fender and rocker panel looked weird, like they were cut. Owner wasn't there but it was something I noticed. I think I may have seen them like that on another car at a local show. It wasn't the same car, but I didn't have my camera so I couldn't take pics. On the above pic, the blue stripe transition is much smoother than on the cars I saw. Any ideas?? The car I took a pic of says it's unrestored so I don't know what to think about it... Here are the pics:

I seem to remember the decals around the wheelwells looking like separate stripes. But then again, it has been a super long time since I saw an original 15th up close. Funny thing, I've been to Vegas alot of times each year, and I never saw that car at the Imperial Palace. I wonder how long ago it was there? George

Here are the pics: That car belongs to someone I've met at the Nats. It used to belong to a member on this board. From what I remember... story for that particular car...the car was restriped at a Pontiac dealer at some point during its life. The incorrect aftermarket stripes were used. The previous owner added the other two stripes for the current owner in Dayton a couple of years back.

From what I have seen the only striping with the clear backgrounds was used on the 84 W62 cars. (doors, fenders, 1/4's) I'll post some pics later. George, notice the paintwork behind the DT500 decal. Notice the white background on this 15th rear bumper decal.

It's not a tape line.
