I’m planning on painting my 83 black in 3 week and I’m still having trouble with what type of paint. Base coat clear coat or single stage.
Single stage would have the original look but is harder to spray and maintain. I’ve also been told it’s less durable.
Base coat clear coat is better everything else but doesn’t look original. Since this will be a weekend driver, I'm tempted to go bc/cc it can always be repainted later, but originality is very important to me.
has anyone seen both types of paint side by side, what are your thoughts?

Well my personal opinion is...go with the bc/cc. By going with a more modern paintjob it will probably hold up better in the long term. Also...A more durable paint job will probably help preserve the car better in the long run too. Look at all the paint jobs on restored Mustangs and Corvettes out there...most of them never looked that good when they left the factory. Good luck!
