I'm thinking of buying this car, '82 S/E, LG4, 3-speed auto, don't know rear end ratio, non-WS6, hardtop, pretty low miles, excellent maroon leather interior. www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=233968242and I wanted to get opinions of what it's worth. It was also on eBay and reached $3650 after 19 bids. I'd love to pay $3650 which seems like a fair price to me, but I have strong doubts the seller will go that low. The wheels and caps (14" N89) can be obtained separately. Also I'd like to verify that the taillight eagle is supposed to be grey, and not maroon or some other color. Any help welcome, gt

Welcome to the board Kizz. As far as S/E's I think they are undervalued right now. So now is a good time to buy. I think somewhere around 3650-4000ish would be fair if this car is what it says it is. (all original) The only thing that jumped out at me were the missing Firebird badges for the front fenders. I'd say give it a very close inspection before you buy. I dont know what color the taillight bird should have been. Perhaps some one with an 82 dealer book good find out. Good luck!

I have not seen the car in person yet, but I have 2 sets of photos of the car, and it does have the driver's side Firebird logo, painted maroon and hard to see. The passenger's side seems to be missing alltogether, but those are pretty cheap replacement parts still.

Welcome aboard Kizz!
That is an amazing S/E!
Going by the pictures I would say $4000-$4500 tops because of the missing wheels and cracked grilles.

Yeah I looked at it, and we bought it, but don't ask me what the price was, because I'm having a hernia just thinking about it!
The car surprised us in every way. The interior is in near mint condition, with the seats themselves being mint. Headliner intact, dashpad intact, UM6 radio intact, very surprising. No pieces missing, AFAIK. The car is loaded with every option I can think of, except rear discs, front license plate holder, and t-tops. Even has WS7 which we did not expect. The butt is slightly higher than I expected for WS7, but it does in fact have 3.23 positraction, 21mm sway bar in the back, and 15" wheel sticker in door jamb. Bummer the N89 wheels are gone. They were 15-inchers, contrary to what I wrote above, and I think it would've come with silver caps originally. Dual exhaust resonators with CATCO catalytic converter (not sure if that's stock, but it looks like it). No rust at all except normal brownish rear axle and a little bit on the brake lines.
Seems to be a one-owner too. Couple of minor problems with power door lock, rear wiper spray, and power antenna, but they should be fixable pretty easily.
Should be a really nice car to keep as a stock example of the forgotten S/E model..

Glad to hear you picked it up and you are happy with it. It sounds like a nice one. You have a nice matching pair of 82's now. I'd love to see some better pics if you get a chance.

it'll be domiciled in New Jersey from here on out so I won't have direct access to it (long story). Soon as we get pics, I hope they go online, probably linked here: www.geezerlab.com:8080/transam/index.html

I have a lot more pics, but I'll let the guy up there take his time with the car and whenever he posts a public website about the car, then I may post the URL here.

Nice car indeed, I had an S/E that was very similar to yours but it was in bad shape. Its good to see one that is as fine as yours, and seeing two in the same pic is coooool! I do remember seeing it on eBay but it was two far away for me, but that worked out well for you
